Default Keybinds
Onimusha: Way of the Sword fully supports keyboard and mouse on PC. The default control scheme is designed to feel natural to action game players, with WASD movement and mouse-driven camera. Below are all confirmed default keybinds from the current PC build.

Camera & System
Space handles both jump and dodge. The game automatically distinguishes between them based on context — pressing Space in midair performs an aerial dodge, while pressing Space during an enemy's attack windup performs a ground dodge.
Mouse Settings
Mouse sensitivity and aim acceleration can be tuned in the Settings menu under Controls. Capcom has exposed the following mouse-specific options:
- Mouse Sensitivity (X / Y): Independent horizontal and vertical sensitivity sliders
- Mouse Acceleration: Off by default — recommended for precision play
- Raw Input: Supported and recommended to bypass OS-level mouse smoothing
- DPI Scaling: Automatic if you have a high-DPI mouse (1000+)
- Invert Y-Axis: Toggleable for camera inversion
Keyboard vs Controller
How does keyboard play compare to controller? Both input methods are fully supported. Here's how they stack up across key gameplay dimensions.
| Aspect | Keyboard & Mouse | Controller |
|---|---|---|
| Camera Precision | Superior — pixel-perfect targeting | Good — slight stick deadzone at extremes |
| Reaction Time | Faster for dodge/parry on keyboard | Slightly slower due to stick travel |
| Comfort (Long Sessions) | Wrist fatigue possible | Generally more ergonomic |
| Issen Timing | Easier with keybind precision | Easier with analog stick feel |
| Menu Navigation | Mouse-driven, faster | D-pad driven, acceptable |
| Competitive Viability | High — preferred by speedrunners | High — preferred by most players |
Recommended Remapping
While the default bindings work well, we recommend a few small changes based on community testing during the demo:
- Move Parry to a mouse button — binding parry to a side mouse button lets you parry without moving your fingers from WASD.
- Move Issen to a thumb key — R is far from your movement hand. Try binding Issen to a side button or G.
- Add a dedicated Sprint key — Left Shift works, but binding sprint to a thumb button (like XButton2) feels more responsive.
- Disable Sprint Toggle — keep sprint as a hold-to-sprint, never toggle. Toggle sprint causes accidental releases during combat.
Onimusha's combat system relies heavily on combining movement with timed inputs. A mouse with at least two thumb-side buttons is highly recommended for PC play. It eliminates the need to claw your hand to reach F or R mid-combat.
Mouse-Only Combat Tips
If you prefer keeping your left hand on WASD and your right hand on the mouse, these tips will help you master mouse-only combat:
- Use mouse buttons for primary attacks. Left Mouse for light, Right Mouse for heavy, Middle Mouse for block.
- Bind Issen to a side mouse button. This keeps your finger on the primary buttons while leaving Issen accessible.
- Mouse Wheel Click for lock-on. This is the most natural lock-on target for mouse users — you can press it without lifting fingers off movement keys.
- Tune camera sensitivity to 50–70%. Too high makes tracking bosses jittery; too low feels sluggish on dodges.
- Enable Raw Input. It eliminates Windows mouse acceleration and gives you true 1:1 mouse movement.
Common Issues
Several issues have been reported by PC players during the demo. Most are easily fixed:
- Mouse feels sluggish in menus: Go to Settings → Controls and re-enable Raw Input.
- Camera moves when typing in chat: No current workaround; the game doesn't have online chat.
- Mouse acceleration feels off: Disable Mouse Acceleration in Settings. Capcom's default has slight acceleration that throws off muscle memory.
- Dodge and Jump both bound to Space: This is intentional, but if you want them separate, rebind Jump to a thumb key.
- Mouse leaves the game window during play: Use Borderless Windowed mode to keep the cursor captured.
