Description

The Oni Gauntlet — subtitled Demon Fist — is the unarmed weapon granted to Musashi by his Oni Clan heritage. Where the katana is the workhorse — fast, reliable, learned through two stances — the Gauntlet is a resource-driven burst tool. It channels demonic energy through repeated punches and palm strikes, with charged attacks that deal massive burst damage at the cost of absorbed souls.

The trade-off is the Gauntlet's defining design choice. Every charged punch draws from your soul stockpile, which is the same resource that funds katana upgrades, skill tree unlocks, and consumable healing. Use the Gauntlet recklessly and you bankrupt your build. Use it tactically — to finish a staggered boss, to burst down a tough elite, to clutch a parry punish — and it's the highest damage-per-second option in your kit.

⚠️ Pre-Release Source

The Oni Gauntlet's role as an unarmed, demon-element, soul-consuming weapon is confirmed from official previews and demo coverage. Specific charged-attack costs, exact damage values, and the full moveset will be confirmed at launch.

Resource Economy

The Gauntlet's soul cost is the single most important number on this page. Each charged punch consumes a fixed soul amount, drawn from your absorbed stockpile. If you have 0 souls, charged attacks won't fire — you'll perform a normal punch instead. This creates a hard ceiling on burst damage that rewards smart farming before hard encounters.

Moveset

The Gauntlet's moveset is distinct from the katana's — no two-stance system, but a rapid punch combo string with two charged input windows.

Moveset — To be verified at launch

Combo list, charged-input timings, soul-cost values per input, and unlockable techniques will be filled in here at launch.

Upgrade Costs

The Gauntlet follows its own upgrade path, with costs that may differ from the katana's. Per-tier soul and material costs will be listed here, cross-referenced with the Soul System guide.

Upgrade Costs — To be verified at launch

Per-tier soul and material costs, stat gains, charged-attack efficiency upgrades, and the full upgrade tree will be documented here at launch.

 Save Soul Before Hard Encounters

If you plan to use the Oni Gauntlet for a tough boss, hold off on spending souls before the encounter. Pre-fight upgrades and consumables are tempting, but entering the arena with a full soul stockpile means you can spend freely on charged attacks when the Break Issen window opens. For the broader economy, see the Soul System guide.
