Introduction to Onimusha Weapons
The Onimusha series features a diverse arsenal of melee weapons across its four main entries. From elemental swords to dual-wielding blades and fist weapons, each armament offers unique combat properties. This ranking evaluates weapons based on base damage, elemental effects, magic utility, speed, and overall versatility across the series.
Weapons from Onimusha: Warlords, Samurai's Destiny, Demon Siege, and Dawn of Dreams are all considered. Let us count down from number 10 to the ultimate weapon.
Rank 10 to 8
#10 - Kaede's Dagger (Onimusha: Warlords)
Kaede's only weapon, the dagger, offers very fast attack speed but the lowest base damage in the game. At max upgrade, it reaches approximately 40 attack power. Useful for quick hits and Issen practice but lacks the power for late-game content.
#9 - Normal Sword (Onimusha: Warlords)
Samanosuke's starting weapon. No elemental attribute and modest damage (20 base, 60 max). Reliable for early game but quickly outclassed once elemental weapons are obtained. Cannot use magic attacks.
#8 - Gairyuu (Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams)
A heavy dragon sword with high base damage but slow swing speed. Its magic attack deals solid area damage, but the sluggish animation leaves you vulnerable. Best used against slow, tanky enemies.
Rank 7 to 5
#7 - Chigo (Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams)
A unique gauntlet weapon that transforms the user's fists into demonic power. Fast combo strings and excellent stagger potential. Base damage of approximately 55 with strong knockback. Limited range is its main drawback.
#6 - Raizan (Onimusha: Warlords)
The Thunder Sword. Base attack 30, max 90. Thunder element stuns enemies, creating openings for follow-up attacks. Magic attack fires a lightning bolt that pierces multiple enemies. Excellent for crowd control and Issen setups.
#5 - Shiden (Onimusha: Warlords)
The Wind Sword. Base attack 32, max 95. Wind element offers the best attack range of any Warlords weapon and fast swing speed. Magic attack creates a wind blade that sweeps a wide arc. Ideal for fighting multiple enemies simultaneously.
Rank 4 to 2
#4 - Enryuu (Onimusha: Warlords)
The Fire Sword. Base attack 35, max 100. Highest base damage among the three elemental swords in Warlords. Fire element deals continuous burn damage after each hit. Magic attack unleashes a flame pillar that devastates grouped enemies. Slightly slower than Raizan and Shiden.
#3 - Tenso (Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams)
Dual swords wielded by Soki. Exceptional combo potential with fast alternating strikes. Combined base damage of approximately 80. The dual-wield mechanic allows simultaneous high and low attacks, making it versatile against both ground and flying enemies. Magic attack releases a cross-shaped energy slash.
#2 - Onimusha Blade (Onimusha: Warlords)
A powerful mid-to-late game weapon with high base damage (approximately 70) and balanced stats. Stronger than any elemental sword at base level and features a devastating magic attack. Obtained through story progression and serves as a bridge to the ultimate weapon.
#1 - Bishamon Sword (Ultimate Weapon)
#1 - Bishamon Sword (Onimusha: Warlords)
The undisputed ultimate weapon. Base attack 80, max 150. Contains all three elemental attributes (Thunder, Fire, Wind) simultaneously. Its magic attack deals massive area damage that can clear entire rooms. The Bishamon Sword also has unique Issen properties, with a slightly wider timing window than other weapons.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Base Attack | 80 |
| Max Attack | 150 |
| Element | All (Thunder, Fire, Wind) |
| Magic Attack | Room-wide AoE |
| Obtained | Dark Realm completion |
To obtain the Bishamon Sword, you must complete all floors of the Dark Realm bonus dungeon. This is the most powerful weapon in the Onimusha series.
Weapon Upgrade Tips
To maximize your weapon potential, follow these upgrade principles:
- Prioritize one weapon: Focus red souls on a single elemental sword rather than spreading upgrades across all three
- Farm souls in the Dark Realm: Enemies there drop souls in higher quantities than story mode
- Use Issen for soul farming: Issen kills release 3x more souls than normal kills
- Upgrade magic alongside weapons: Blue souls enhance your magic gauge, which powers weapon special attacks
- Save the Bishamon Sword for New Game+: Since it is obtained late, a second playthrough lets you use it throughout
